Variegated leafroller - Platynota flavedana (Clemens)

Newly hatched larvae are yellow with a black head capsule (1.2 mm); mature larvae are green with a brown head capsule (20 mm). Mature larvae can be present from early May until August. Fruit damaged by variegated leafroller shows a shotgun pattern of isolated feeding sites. VLR is generally controlled with sprays applied for other pests.
